My Review

Journey to a New Earth tells a story of Penelope Panda and her new friend Kobi Koala. Penelope loves to venture into the forest and enjoy the beautiful plants and surroundings. She fills her tummy with great-tasting leaves and rests.

Then, she meets the little Koala bear who is telling her about losing her friends. The picture shows Kobi running from the fire. Penelope Panda tries to help Kobi find her friends.

Then, the story becomes centered around a spiritual connection of all things and appears to be focusing on Eastern religious philosophies. There are beautifully colored illustrations throughout the book.

Tiffany Caldwell: I have worked with children for over thirteen years and every year basic manners become less evident. When I was growing up, my sisters and I took etiquette classes during the summer while we visited our grandparents. Etiquette was always a big part of our upbringing. When we would have our family dinners, my dad, W.R. MacKenzie, would make our utensils come to life as we were eating. Forkman became a part of our dinner routine! I am a mother of three great kids and military wife to my hero. A few years ago, I told my dad we needed to start writing our story. We are so excited to share Forkman with the world!

W.R. MacKenzie: I spent thirty-nine years in the bakery business. After I retired and my four children were grown, I felt it was time to share the importance of the family meal with the world. My Review

This cute book is perfect for young families. Chapter 3 starts after the family finishes their dinner. Forkman is a super-hero fork who is there to teach children about being helpful and having good manners.

Forkman teaches the children how to follow the correct steps in rinsing the dishes and loading the dishwasher. The children carefully listen and follow his directions. Then, the children pick a board game for family game night.

In Chapter 4 Forkman discusses how the family should make correct noises at the dinner table. They learn that burping and tooting are not the right noises to make at the table. There are other good lessons being taught in this great family book. I recommend it for children.
