I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This lovely read is Book 1 in the Heart of Moreland Manor series by Mary A. Felkins. This is a story of two very different people. They both grew up in the same high school in Louisiana. Gabe had a major crush on the girl but never told her. He’s now a contractor whose specialty is restoring historical properties. Everley is a CPA, who is about to become partner in her firm in Chicago.
She’s been left Moreland Manor from her mother, who stipulates in the will that Gabe is the only one who should restore the mansion. In the meantime a media company wants to film them to create a new fixer upper type show. This brings with it time constraints, and this is too difficult with this huge manor and the amount of work that needs to be done.
Both Gabe and Everley know that this relationship wouldn’t work, even though they’re very attracted to one another. She wants to sell the manor and stay in Chicago with her life that is ordered. He loves his New Orleans way of life and likes to spontaneously help others. They both are dating people that they’re not in love with.
They’re biggest problem is that they are hearing from God, but they don’t want to answer Him. Will Everley give in to answer the call God has for her? Will Gabe make it right with the person who is the hardest person to forgive? What will become of the manor?
This is a very sweet and clean romance. I found the book hard to put down and want to read the rest of the series.
