My Review
Children will love the soccer-playing Dachshund named Siggy. Siggy is in his bed at home and dreaming of playing soccer with lots of other athletic soccer-playing dogs. The game is exciting but the score is 0 – 0. With little time left in the game, Siggy goes in. He moves across the field and just before the whistle scores the winning goal. The crowd screams his name and even sings a song in his honor.
When Siggy wakes up he tells Phyllis about how he was the hero. She puts two sausages in his favorite bowl and he enjoys eating them.
The book is adorable and I was a huge fan of the artwork. The beyond-basic illustrations are the star of this delightful children’s book. The dreamlike artwork appear to be paintings of the soccer-playing dogs in muted colors that are truly beautiful.
