My Review

Bruce the Spruce is an artificial Christmas tree that has spent the last 20 years in a home where he has loved being the center of attention. He loves the lights, the decorations, and being the star! But one day the family brings in a new artificial Christmas tree. He is in shock, because he can’t believe they want to get rid of him. The rest of the book follows Bruce’s adventures when he is put out in the trash. A few different people use him for a short time, but he is discarded again. What will happen to Bruce as he is thrown on a garbage truck? Will he learn what Christmas trees are all about?

This is a charming book with lovely illustrations. The rhyming verse is so cheerful and reminds me of the sweet sentiment in The Night Before Christmas. I think children will love this book and it would make a great bedtime story.
