My Review
Two broken souls, one journey is the perfect description of the plot of this wonderful book. This book is my absolute favorite of all the books I’ve read this year! From the first page, it grabbed my interest and I immediately felt a connection with the well-written characters.
Levi and Casey are trying to run away. They are both from extremely abusive homes and meet randomly in the train station. Or is it really random?
Why would a fourteen year-old boy and an eight year-old girl decide to band together in their quest to leave their homes? And, what would it really take for them to escape their horrible lives?
The tale is heart-breaking as these two are let down over and over and go through horrific experiences. Is there anyone who will step in and help them? Yes, there is a Christian couple who will fight for them, even as they mourn their adult son who is a prodigal.
You’ll feel the anguish and fear of these two youngsters who are in a fight for their lives. The story is so well written and you’ll be turning every page, hoping that something good can happen to make their lives whole.
As so many circumstances are working against the foster family, their Christian faith is lived out as a perfect example to the young abused pair. You’ll be holding on to hope, even as the social workers can’t always be depended on.
There are tons of tears in this book, but will the final tears be tears of sorrow or of joy? You’ll want to find out with this quick-read. It’s a wonderful, heart-warming Christian book that will inspire you to use your faith in service to others.
