What Makes Me…Me is a story about harnessing your super powered brain. We are all special and unique and our differences are what make us all special. What Makes Me…Me was written especially for those kids with neurological differences, their families, and their friends.
Anne Baldwin is a wife, mom, and fierce advocate for neurodiverse kids. Anne wrote her first book What Makes Me…Me after her son Levi was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. Passionate about stopping the stigma around Tourette-Syndrome, Anne hopes that her books about embracing your differences as what makes you unique will help kids with Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, and other neurological disorders to feel included and accepted by everyone. Anne lives in metro-Detroit with her husband Nick, their sons Levi and Gus, 3 cats, a dog, and a leopard gecko.

MY REVIEW
What an amazing children’s picture book! We’re introduced to a cute little boy who seems happy. He tells us how he’s unique because of his brain. He gives an age-appropriate explanation of how the brain sends messages that make us all do things. He’s proud of how his brain helps him to do things, such as: jump, run, walk, and climb. He shares how his brain can be silly and imagine things.
He then tells about how his brain sometimes makes him daydream or not pay attention. He goes on to explain that he has tics, and the doctor tells him that he has Tourette’s, ADHD, and OCD. He knows that although he might have these brain differences, it doesn’t stop him from being a happy, fun, and unique little boy. This entertaining book is a fun book to read, but also allows parents to teach about different ways that brains can function. It can lead to better understanding among children.
