My Review
An African Princess, a beautiful island paradise, a handsome commoner, and a huge list of legal requirements all combine to give the reader a suspenseful love story. The fairy tale is the contemporary love story of Brielle Bayo. Little does this teacher from New York City know, but her mother has kept a secret from her. When her grandfather has little time left to live and remain king, Brielle’s mother tells her of her true royal identity. She decides to go the the African island to meet her grandfather and decide if she wants to accept the throne. Her world is turned upside down as she is pressured by his short time to live and the royal council’s rules that require her to marry before he dies.
Brielle meets the three chosen husband candidates and wants no part of it. Her choice is a very common man, a palace staff who is teaching her the native language. The council finally agrees to let her marry the man she loves, but there is danger ahead. There is someone sending her threatening letters and it progresses to her bedroom being trashed. Who could be the culprit? Is it someone on the council? Brielle and Tomori won’t be safe until the mystery is solved.
I enjoyed the love story and loved how the author focused on the Christian faith of the couple. Brielle made all her decisions after seeking the Lord’s will for her life. The book is long and can get a little slow at times. I would recommend it as a clean, sweet romance for all who love Hallmark movies and happy endings.
