EXCERPT
Grandpa rearranged clothes to fit the elvish box into the suitcase puzzle. “If you’re going
to ask, then don’t.”
Will nodded. “Why?”
“Don’t want to talk about it.”
“Did you make the box? It’s really cool.”
“Nope.”
“Who did?”
Grandpa cleared his throat. “An old friend.”
“Who?”
Grandpa cleared his throat again, more forcefully. “Why do you ask so many
questions?” Silence filled the air until it felt ready to explode. “George. George Gates.”
He zipped up the suitcase.
“He must’ve liked Lord of the Rings a lot.”
Grandpa nodded. “He loved to read… and write. Writing was his stress reliever.”
“Too bad all the writing on the box didn’t mean anything.”
Grandpa’s eyes flashed. “Not George. Of course it means something. Everything was
purposeful with George. I wouldn’t have had any idea—”
“You’re welcome,” Will interrupted. “I mean, on Jess’s behalf, you’re welcome. She’s the
Lord of the Rings nerd.”
A small smile tugged at the right side of Grandpa’s lips. “She would’ve liked to know
George.”
“Where are you taking the box?”
“Will, I said not to ask.”
“But Grandpa, why in the world would you be going anywhere after we just got here?”
Grandpa grunted and pulled the suitcase off the worktable. “Shut the door and lock it
when you leave. Don’t touch my tools.”

Sounds like a good book.
The way this story seems to weave together adventure, heroism, and family makes it sound like a really compelling read. It’s not often that we see YA books explore the complex emotions of military service and its effects on loved ones.
I enjoyed the excerpt.
Your cover really draws me in to your wonderful story.
thanks for sharing about Grandpa’s Comrade today 🙂
This looks like a great read. Thanks for sharing.
I love how organized and detailed this is. Very informative!
Nice spotlight on the blog tour – the premise of Grandpa’s Comrade sounds like the kind of historical YA that works when the period detail stays grounded. The giveaway format is a smart way to build early readers for an indie title. Adding this to my TBR for the spring.
Glad to see Grandpa’s Comrade getting a proper tour — the Christian YA angle with a historical setting is a combination that doesn’t get enough attention. The giveaway is a nice way to get it into more hands.
Christian YA adventure is a niche where the pacing really matters, and a blog tour is a good way to show the voice before asking anyone to commit. The giveaway format works well here. Added to my list.
Lovely tour stop. Christian YA historical adventure with a family perspective is a combination that can reach a lot of readers, and the giveaway makes it easy to jump in. Wishing the book a great run.
Nice to see Christian YA adventure getting a blog tour — the Kelsey Gjesdal novel sounds like it fills a real gap for younger readers. The giveaway is a smart way to build word of mouth. Adding this to the reading list.
Lovely tour stop for Grandpa’s Comrade. The way the Christian YA adventure angle is framed makes the book sound genuinely worth picking up for younger readers. I’ve started narrating short review snippets for my reading log, and Seed Audio gave them a warm tone.
Nice spotlight on a Christian YA adventure that sounds like it handles heavy themes with care — the historical angle makes it stand out from typical releases. Including the giveaway details up front was thoughtful. Adding this to a reading list for younger teens.
The dual perspective of Jess and Will stuck with their grandparents while a past refuses to stay buried is a strong hook for YA. The multigenerational angle with a military thread sounds like it avoids the usual genre shortcuts. Adding this to the reading list — thanks for hosting the tour.
Nice spotlight on Grandpa’s Comrade and its blog tour. Christian YA adventure is a tough niche to write well, and the premise sounds genuinely warm. Adding it to the reading list.
This sounds like a great pick for a blog tour — the multigenerational angle and the grandfather’s past give it real emotional stakes. Christian YA with a military thread is a specific niche readers will appreciate. Adding it to my list.
The multigenerational angle of Grandpa’s Comrade sounds genuinely moving, and pairing a boy who wants to be a hero with a grandpa holding onto his past is a strong premise. Christian YA fiction with a military thread deserves more attention. Thanks for hosting the tour.
Lovely blog tour post for Grandpa’s Comrade — the historical framing comes through even in the summary. Always good to see independent historical fiction get this kind of attention.
The premise of a hidden box and a grandpa’s buried past is a strong hook for YA readers, and the multigenerational angle sets it apart from typical adventure novels. Christian YA with a military-history thread is a niche that doesn’t get enough attention. Wishing the author a great tour.
This sounds like a lovely multigenerational read — a grandparent with a past he won’t discuss is a strong hook for YA without leaning on melodrama. The Christian fiction framing with an adventure core should appeal to a wide range of teen readers. I designed a few social graphics for a book tour with Krea 3, and swapping the background behind the cover art worked nicely.
A brief content note would help readers decide whether this YA adventure suits them before entering for a print copy. The excerpt includes “Writing was his stress reliever.” but the synopsis also places Grandpa’s PTSD alongside the rescue mission in South Korea. Indicating how prominently those difficult memories appear would make that choice more informed.
Enjoyed the tour stop — Grandpa’s Comrade sounds like the kind of Christian YA adventure that works because the historical detail carries the stakes. Good to see a giveaway attached to a blog tour like this. Adding it to the reading list.
