Book Excerpt:
What is the answer?
What will prevail?
Will it be the red dot?
Or will the cat win the tale?
My name is Socks,
and much to my delight,
I chase a red dot
almost every single night.
It travels over bed sheets
and runs across the floor
while I chase to my heart’s content
thirsting for more!
By day I sleep;
by night I chase
when my human comes home from work
and pulls out the laser post-haste!
I hear the clicking of the button
and race into the room
to run after that red dot–
look at me zoom!

My Review
I had many cats when I was a child. We always had at least one cat in our house and were always provided with many hours of entertainment. This book of poetry about cats is also very entertaining. All the cats described in the book have different personalities and activities. The author writes lovely rhyming poems about her cats. When I read the poems I could just picture the cat and smiled thinking about the often naughty things that they get into every day.
These poems will be enjoyed by readers of all ages. I think it would be fun to read them aloud to your children, too. Homeschool moms would enjoy doing this as an introduction to poetry. There are so many cute poems, but my favorite is about the cat who makes a quacking sound!
