Brushstrokes from the Past by Heidi Eljarbo
A Historical Art Mystery
A Soli Hansen Mystery Book 4
Genre: Christian Dual Timeline Historical Fiction/Mystery
MY REVIEW
Dual-timeline books can be a little slow at the beginning, but there is so much to introduce (since I didn’t read Books 1-3). I really enjoy historical fiction and the characters in this book are great to get to know. Whether you’re reading in 1641 or 1945, there will be many things that have endured the test of time.
As the story opens, we’re introduced to a courier running with a painting on his person. He’s in a rush, and hears a pack of wolves on his tail. Will he be able to outrun them? As the timeline changes, the professor and assistants are performing an archaeological dig. What do they find? The remains of the courier and the sealed tube with the painting inside.
This painting just happens to be a painting of a muskateer and signed by Rembrandt. The professor and many young people are part of the resistance in Oslo, Norway during WWII. They are very brave and bold, but seem to have signs of PTSD, because many times their missions are dangerous.
The book gives a wonderful perspective of resistance that I hadn’t heard of before. Truly, the Nazi’s caused so much suffering no matter where they went. It’s very encouraging to read hopeful stories of those who have gone before us who were very brave.

The Giveaway prize for these 2 books is fantastic and you’ll find the Giveaway on my Instagram account.
