Bobos Babes

Karen M. Bobos began writing poetry and stories at the early age of ten. She is a life-long Chicagoan who now raises her family in the downtown area. During the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic, Chicago also became a city of unrest. Trying to keep her three young daughters in a world of magic during such scary times, the Bobos Babes Adventures were born. Her goal was to create a world of Harmony for her family and hopefully for others to escape, even if only for a moment.
The first book of the series, The Case of the Giggles, was published in December 2020. The Missing Egg launched in March 2021. The Lion’s Secret was published in June 2021, a tribute to her mother and late father’s incredible love story. The Lovey That Came to Life and The Bobcat Birthday Party will be releasing in the upcoming months.

Author Interview
Do you ever wish you could change anything in a book after it’s published?
My first published book, The Case of the Giggles, we had some important parts of the illustrations that were in the safety margins and got cut off, like Leonard the Lion’s feet and Scarlett’s shoes. The perfectionist in me would love to fix all of that, which I may someday.
Do you have a system that you use when writing your books?
Oh gosh, I wish I did. If I had more time juggling motherhood, my other company, and my books, I would be
so organized. I just write when I can where I can. Someday … Ha! Who am I kidding?
Do you ever feel like giving up writing, and what do you do to overcome those feelings?
Oh, yes! I absolutely love to write, but I am still in my first year of publishing my books. I am learning so much and making mistakes along the way. Writing is supposed to be my outlet and my joy. However, just like any business, you will always encounter negativity or lack of support. My husband is so wonderful. He knows how to run a business and remove the emotion. He reminds me to keep my head on straight and remove the negativity. Also, writing books is expensive. You’re going to spend money that you will later find out that you shouldn’t have spent or that you were getting overcharged. You just have to take them as learning lessons, and hopefully, they aren’t too expensive of learning lessons.
What is the most difficult part about writing a book?
Writing a book is easy, for me anyways. It’s everything else. So many writers wish they could just write a book, but there is so much that goes into marketing and the business side of it. I would say the most difficult part is getting the word out there about your book and accepting that not everyone is going to love your book, and that’s normal.
Do you think you will write a book outside of the Bobos Babes Adventures series?
Yes. I started writing chapter books for the Bobos Babes in the summer of 2020 as well. Scarlett, my oldest is a VERY advanced reader, and I try to write for all three of my daughters. I’m trying to think of a title for the series. Any suggestions? The chapter books tie everything together (with a pink bow – wink wink – referencing the pink bow theme on my books). I also am brainstorming on an idea for a series for younger children as well. I have some ideas. I just need a quiet afternoon to get the creative juices flowing. Hmmm… not sure that’s possible with my big, loud, crazy family of six (inc

My Review
The adventures of the Bobos Babes is a delightful rhyming story. It has sixteen pages of brightly colored pictures that children will love. These fairies are very sweet and loving. Fairy Cora, Princess Daphne, and Angel Scarlett are excited about the upcoming night of trick-or-treating. They always love to dress in a disguise and head to their favorite store to buy a mask.
The are greeted at Lily the Ladybug’s Boutique by Lily herself. She invites them to come in and buy their custom made masks. Lily has them wrapped in beautiful gift boxes and tells them that they are to wait until noon on Halloween to open them. They can hardly wait.
They watch the clock carefully until it finally says says twelve noon. But when they open the boxes, there are only clear masks. They’re disappointed and very confused. But what will happen when they place the masks on their faces? Children will love the Halloween magic in this book.
