MY REVIEW
If Christian parents want to teach their children about God’s creation and how to protect it, what would be a good way to accomplish this? Going out and experiencing nature is one terrific way to teach them.
In this new book, Abigail and the Waterfall, parents can read about the experiences in nature that this young family had. On first Saturdays of every month, this family took a hike together. One of their favorite hikes was to a beautiful waterfall.
At the base of the waterfall, the family had a picnic and talked about protecting the animals that lived there. The mom and dad took the time to explain to the children that they should never leave trash or food in the forest.
When a stray plastic bag was left, some little fishes were trapped. Thankfully, the dad was able to rescue them.
This will be a book that Christian parents will love reading to young children. The little girl, Abigail, is very sweet and very teachable. There are scripture verses throughout and fit the natural topics. The artwork is lovely and top quality. The details are gorgeous and give children a vision of what forests and some animals look like.
I recommend this book for children because it’s realistic, sweet, and it teaches good lessons.

Sandra L. Richter (PhD, Harvard University) is the Robert H. Gundry Chair of Biblical Studies at Westmont College, a member of the Committee on Biblical Translation for the NIV, and widely recognized for her work in Deuteronomy and the Deuteronomistic history. She is best known in the church for The Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament, the video courses that have grown from that project, and Stewards of Eden: What Scripture Says About the Environment and Why It Matters. Her newest project, Abigail and the Waterfall: Loving God’s Good Earth, is a children’s book about stewarding the gifts of God’s creation.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Michael Corsini is an artist and illustrator with a BFA in illustration from Ringling School of Art and Design and an MTS from the John Paul II Institute in Washington, DC. His mission as an artist is to renew the church with works of beauty and music, and he has illustrated several children’s books including The Night the Saints Saved Christmas. Michael lives with his wife and their five children in northeast Pennsylvania where they are growing a small family homestead.
