Rocky relationships at Christmas? Most families have their own times of crisis. When a couple in their late 40’s have twins, all kinds of chaos is involved. Rita and Jago are still just engaged, but welcomed their twins into Rita’s home. Jago is a farmer, while Rita runs retreats on the land. The guests stay in yurts, no matter the season.

Rita is also a mother to another set of twins, but they’re grown. The adult children haven’t quite gotten their lives together. Their choices of dates is worrisome to Rita, who is a widow. Trying to run the business and take care of two babies is difficult, and Rita finally gives in to get a nanny.

The book mostly focuses on the relationships between everyone in the family, as well as many villagers. I felt sad reading about some of the predicaments each character found themselves in. Thankfully, there was humor throughout. Many of the characters were dramatic or silly. After so many bad mistakes, I wondered if anything could be resolved.

I really liked the author’s vivid descriptions of the lovely small town in England. I would give the book a rating of PG-13, because of the sex scenes, excessive drinking, and bad language.
